I already believe that there is a backlash against celebrities. Although I do find it interesting that people associate being beautiful with being a celebrity. There are many celebrities that I would hardly call beautiful.

As for the backlash.. I believe that we see this on a daily basis. All of the entertainment programs don't showcase how wonderful all of the celebrities are.. the showcase all of the problems and issues they have. Fights, jail time, being drunk. The reason these shows are so popular is because we as a society are sick of feeling as though celebrities are somehow better than we are. Showing that these people are just in fact people with a lot of problems makes them more human. I think that most people believe that if they had access to the money that some of these celebrities had how much good we could do, and yet we see these people out blowing money on clothes, cars, houses, drug and alcohol addictions.

The truth is that not many people would pass up an opportunity to be a celebrity, but with grandiose intentions of doing the right thing. The backlash comes when we see celebrities not even trying to do the right thing, or doing the "right thing" for publicity stunts. If celebrities would spend more time being decent human beings and stop worrying so much about there persona in the media, they might actually be able to do some good.
