WHICH BUSINESS SHALL I START?

If you are interested in starting a business of your own, I encourage you to go for it! Starting a business is a very big step that will affect you, and those around you If you want to start a business but are not sure which one to start, consult the people who know you best. They may also be of assitance to you later down the line when you get started. But even before that, they may be able to tell you the things that you do well or which businesses they think you would be good at. Listen to everyone's opinion, keeping things in perspective, that it's just their opinion. Seriously consider the things that they share with you, coupled with what your own heart is telling you.

Here are some other things for you to consider:
Start a business doing something that you are interested in. If you find yourself wanting a piece of a market just because there's a lot of money to be made in it, you may loose steam rather quickly. When the bumps in the road come, you will need something to motivate you to keep going, something way down deep within and money might not make it.

Start a business where there is a demand for your product or service (or you offer a better quality than the ones already there). You have a greater chance of survival if you have something that is new, different, or better to offer.

Start a business with whatever you have. Once you get your business plan out there and get others to believe in you and your business, your investors can help you along the way.

Price competitively, but remember you have to eat too! Make sure that whatever you're selling is worth what it costs the consumers. Try not to have a lot of overhead in the beginning. The less you have to pay out, the better. You won't survive too long with more debt than equity.

Expect the unexpected. Be ready for those unexpected expenses that may come up with starting your own business. Remember, this is a "place" that you have never been before. You will no doublt also encounter situations that you never dreamed would occur. Plan, plan, and plan some more, realizing that there are some things that you just won't be able to think of until you face them. And even then, use those stumbling blocks as stepping stones to get you where you need to be. Your business could be an overnight success, or it could take years to turn a profit. More often than not, it will take some time to turn a profit but keep at it, learning, growing, and improving all the while.
