Soap these days can be a really easy and exciting craft. With soap blocks that come in packages that are easy to Microwave or melt down in a Crockpot or even double boiler. Personally I prefer to use a Crockpot when I am melting down soap because when using the microwave I have burnt myself from the extremely hot soap. However both ways are easy.
With a Crockpot the melting down of the soap will take longer because the Crockpot will have to heat up. The microwave would be more of an instance process, but be careful the soap will be very hot and soap vipers will fill the room if soap is heated to much. The double boiler process is also pretty fast, but in each process you want to make sure you don't over heat or burn the soap.
Soap making is great fun because it is such a blank canvas and you can add practically anything to it i.e., toys, glitter, colors, scents, oatmeal, flowers, ribbons, tea, seaweed, etc. You can make soap personal for anyone!
Now in many craft stores they have several different assortments of design trays for soaps. If you want to make a chunky two colored soap you are going to need either a soap loaf or you could use any regular soap design.
To make a chunky two colored soap you are going to need the soap desired by you, either a clear soap or a solid soap. It comes out better if you have both a clear and a solid but the choice is up to you. Now melt down the solid soap and color it whatever color you'd like. Stir the soap until color is the desired color. Place the soap in soap loaf tray or other design. Wait for it to completely dry. Once soap is completely dry cut it up into desired sized chunks. Then melt the clear soap and color it to desired color or keep it clear. Pour a little of the clear soap into a mold and then place some chunks into the soap in the mold and then cover the chunks with soap.
Now if you want to make a spa like soap like oatmeal and honey or seaweed and green tea those can be simple to! If you are using a whole brick of soap then use 1/2tbsp of honey and a 1/4 - 1/2 cup oatmeal. This soap tends to look its best went solid soap is being used verses clear soap. First melt the soap down and then add the ingredient and stir for a few minutes until everything is well blended. Then pour into desired mold. The seaweed and green tea soap works great in both the clear and the solid so try them both and find your favorite. First melt down the soap once the soap is melted down add the seaweed and then 1-2 bags of green tea. You can either rip the bags and just pick the tea in or you can place the tea bags in and let it steep like regular tea. Let the tea Steep for 3-5 minutes and then stir. Pour into desired mold.
Now for all soaps it is important to make sure that the soap has completely hardened before you take it out of the mold. Once it has pop the soaps out of the mold and then place them on a cooling rack of a place that they will get a lot of air. Because it takes 2-3 days for soap to completely harden and set!
