a bizarre journey of often nightmarish exploits with intoxications. It contains ridiculous predicaments of both apathy and lyrically poetic script shinning from one of the most brilliant writers of our time. Rest in peace, Sir Thompson!
Bruce Lee was the one to inspire me to studying martial arts after seeing "Enter the dragon". Lee soars with his performance and defined cinematic fighting sequences in the action category of movies in the era of boring car chases and gun fights, Bruce Lee smashed down the walls and gave way to a new genre of cinema with the martial arts after overcoming the prejudice of Hollywood against Asians being the spotlight character.
Since I've already shifted into the martial arts subject, Jackie Chan pushed the envelope of action film making with his death defying stunts, amazing acrobatics, and lightning fast kung fu action with "Drunken Master 2"(aka The legend of drunken master). Jackie Chan has had numerous stunts in his films where it could have taken his life. In the huge shadow of Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan innovated martial arts film making through his comedic influences and acrobatic exploits through the likes of silent film stars, Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton. Another martial artist with extraordinary skills would be Jet Li particularly his remake of Bruce Lee's "Fist of fury" renamed "Fist of Legend". Li's phenomenal fighting skills lays tribute to Bruce's classic film about revenge for the murder of his master(typical kung fu premise, I love it!)displays his super fast movements in combat.
Finally, "The Godfather parts one and two" also makes it into this very expurgated lists of probably hundreds of movies that I can watch over and over again. The timeless scenes included in these classics never fails to have my eyes glued to the screen not to mention the dialogs that I can also quote just as well as "Scarface". It is a shame that Mario Puzo wasn't able to fulfill the third part with his personal intention of having it as a prequel contrasting terribly with how the film studio depicted it terribly as an actual sequel. It is also a shame that part 3 ended recklessly.
And that's a wrap! Movies will always be personal to me in ways of both creativity and entertainment. It doesn't have to have a Shakespearean pompousness to get a film to draw me in its quality. As long as it's funny, edge of your seat action, even clever dramas and overall charisma has me in its grips, Then bust out the snacks!
