Statin is a drug used mainly to lower high cholesterol level. Recent research proved that statins dangers may be more than its benefits and are that they have a lot of side effects.
Some of the side effects are:
1) They can dramatically decrease brain function as the brain relies on cholesterol as a fuel which then turns into energy.
2) They may be linked with cancer
3) They decrease the immune function of the body
4) Statins have been tested on rats and rodents and they have been proven that they don't have any effect on plaques (which is unhealthy cholesterol lining the arteries).
5) They cause heart problems as they decrease coenzyme Q which is needed by the heart.
7) They are linked with myopathy, muscle weakness and nerve damage
8) Are linked with eye cataracts
9) Are linked with liver damage
A safe alternative for statin is taking vitamin C which safely lowers blood cholesterol levels.
