Dog breed: German Shepherd

Being a king among dogs, the German Shepherd gives us the impression of a noble head, athletic body. The dog is solid, muscular, alert, agile, and full of vitality. Almost all of the dog lovers like this breed, and you will surely be attracted by the contours of its body, even if you are new to dogs. * Appearance of the dog

Height:
Male, 24-26 inches (60-65cm); female, 22-24 inches (55-60cm)

Weight:
77-85 pounds (35-40kg)

Impression:
noble, large and strong

Fur:
a double-coat, either short or long haired

Color and patterns:
black and tan saddle; also, a variety of colors and patterns, such as, black and red, black and brown, black and silver, black and cream, blue and tan, or liver and tan etc.

Head:
noble, simple lines, solid but not clumsy, to body proportions; eyes, medium size, almond-shaped, slightly inclined position, not so prominent; ears, slightly sharp, and well-proportioned, forward, upright ears, a good posture; moderate arch forehead; tone, long and firm; nose, black; lips very appropriate, very strong jaw; teeth,42 teeth

Body:
solid neck; the muscular profile, sharp, relatively long Tail: dense hair, smooth, when at rest, slightly bent, saber-like

* History of the breed:

In the past, the long-haired, short-haired, and wire-haired local shepherd dogs from Wurtemberg, Thurginia, and Bavaria, von Stephanitz and other dedicated breeders produced a responsive, obedient, and handsome German Shepherd. In April 1899, Capt. Max von Stephanitz registered a dog named Horan as the first Deutsche Scherhunde, which means German Shepherd Dog in English. Until 1915, both long-haired and wire-haired varieties were exhibited. Today, in most countries, only the short coat is recognized for show purposes.

* Service:

The ideal German shepherd he gives the impression of quality and has a good sense of unspeakable noble. It is large enough to tackle a man and win a contest, or to cope with a flock of sheep. Also, it is a dog developed to be a functional and carefully planned breeding. Since the German Shepherd dog are so intelligent and learn readily, they can be used as a sheepdog, guard dog, in police work, as a guide for the blind, in search and rescue service, and in the military. They enjoy a task in life. They can sniff out drugs and intruders, and can alert handlers to the presence of underground mines in time, or gas leaks in a pipes buried within 15 feet underground.
