Have you found a website which you really like and would visit again? Does it offer you what you are looking for easily and without fuss? Congratulations. You have found a good website.
Can it really be that simple? Well from the consumer's point of view, yes it can, though it will pay to look at the subject in just a little more depth before drawing conclusions.
Firstly what are you looking for in the site? If it is factual information from (say) a historical or geographical source, is the information accurate? Check out if you can on other sites. You may be surprised how much information on well-visited and respected sites can contain factual inaccuracies. Are you looking for a site to buy something? If so, could you get the product cheaper somewhere else? Once again, research as much as you can. You may believe that the first price you found is the cheapest, but are there hidden costs in postage and packing that you hadn't reckoned?
In a nutshell, a good website will stand out from the crowd straight away. It will display the information you want in a clear way, will not be cluttered up with stuff you didn't want or need to know and will be easy to navigate. On top of all that it will be up to date. It's no good trying to take advantage of an advertised "special offer" if that offer turns out to have expired some time ago and nobody has updated the website.
Listen to other people's recommendations, read reviews - do all these things, but when all is said and done it is you who are using the site, and if it does all you want it to it is a good site for you. As they say, one man's meat is another man's poison.
