Getting fired isn't the end of the world. Oh yes at the time you hear those words, "We are sorry we have to let you go" it feels as if your whole world has come to an abrupt end, but it hasn't. In order to start something new, something has to end. Sometimes something drastic has to happen before a person finds a new and better path for their lives.
Imagine if you will how many of us would still be working at minimum paying jobs had it not been for that manager who knew that we were not meant to flip burgers or bag groceries. Those are the opportunities for growth some of us need. Sometimes we are so comfortable with keeping things the same that we never take the chance to improve ourselves, that is until someone makes the decision for us.
When someone losses their employment due to being terminated, company take overs, down sizing or restructuring there is a time for mourning. Once the mourning process has passed, it is time to heal. It is time to start again.
There are many opportunities to improve on your career.
You should start by making a list of all the jobs and or careers you are interested in.
Narrow it down to opportunities that are within your reach and those that you may not have the time, education or resources to do.
As an example, someone may have a list that says: Registered nurse, Doctor, Marine Biologist, Astronaut. Depending on your financial situation you may be able to become a registered nurse, but you are not in good physical shape to become an astronaut.
You can take this opportunity to go back to college and continue your education.
If you are young enough and in good health, you may even decide to enlist in the Armed Forces.
You may decide to start your own business. You may decide to buy a franchise.
Yes being fired is something no one wants to think of. but when it does happen, after you have taken the time to heal, it is time to make your life the best it can be.
'When defeat comes, accept it as a signal that
your plans are not sound,
Rebuild those plans and set sail once more
toward your coveted goal.'
-Napoleon Hill
