Universal Studios Hollywood is a theme park that dazzles. Before you hit Universal's front gate you are ushered into the park amidst a wonderland of shops, eateries and excitement in the City Walk. See a movie at the IMAX theatre, grab dinner at the famous night club BB Kings where all the greats have performed, or enjoy a coffee at the ever popular Coffee Bean.
Universal Studios is a unique park that incorporates live filming, thrill rides, live shows and studio tours. If you are a film fanatic, be sure to check out the Studio Tour. Lively tour guides give you a behind the scenes look at how films are made. You travel through iconic film sets reliving King Kongs attack and Jaws, get to see rare move paraphernalia, and if you are lucky enough, may get to see your favorite star as they dodge from their trailer to a hot set.
To get an up close look at how movies are made check out Backdraft to see just how accurate the term "hot set" is, or check out the Special Effects stages to learn the secrets behind your favorite movies.
If it's thrill rides you seek, you are in luck. Check out Back to the Future, but you better hurry, the ride will soar for the last time on September 3, 2007 before making room for a new Simpsons ride. Jump on the Jurassic Park ride, but beware, bring a change of clothes, the last ride will thrill you, and chill you with an unexpected wave of water.
As expected in a movie park, the shows are incredible. See Waterworld and be amazed by the actor's water stunts, just be careful to sit a few rows back unless you want to get a little wet. Check out Universal's Animal Actors to see your furry little friends at work.
For the kids, Universal won't disappoint. Check out Nickelodeon's Blast Zone for a romp with squirt guns and crazy fountains, or keep an eye out in the park for your favorite cartoon character. Check the daily schedules to see listings when you can have a photo op with your favorite star.
If you're hungry, be assured that Universal Studio's has you covered. Visit Doc Brown's Diner, the famous Mel's Diner or the Jurassic Cafe.
Universal Studios is an affordable exciting family vacation. It transports you to the world of make believe and let's you be part of the magic!
