When this country began there was no separation of church and state. It began as a group of people who had morales, faith, and a sense of what was right and wrong. This country has come a long way but unfortunately, it has ceased to honor it's humble beginnings.
I was a child of the 50's, when you were still allowed to say the Pledge every morning. I have to admit, at the time, I didn't understand the full impact of what I was reciting. But in the many years that have passed I have gained an understanding of those words.
I truly believe that everyone should be allowed to practice their personal religions and beliefs. However, I must admit that I am offended by those that use the law and twist it to serve their personal gains. I do not understand, why we as Americans, are so willing to allow these people to undermine our beliefs and practices.
It is politically incorrect to speak of God and our country in any political arena today. Yet, a great deal of time is spent on this very issue with Congress, the Supreme Court and other spectrums of the political parties. How can we obtain a separation of church and state when there is always someone there filing a lawsuit because their child has different beliefs and their civil rights are being violated. I am here to say loudly and clearly-you as a parent have a right to raise your children in any fashion that you see fit. Ask that your child be allowed to leave the room if participation is not within your realm, or allow your child to have a part of the day when they can participate in their particular belief but DO NOT impose your beliefs and encumber the right of the American people, because you are imposing on our civil rights.
America was built on freedoms of the people and for the people. So please allow us to continue the tradition where children can be raised with a sense of loyalty and respect for those freedoms, whatever those beliefs may be.
If you choose to live in this country, then live in this country. We are not a perfect nation but I can tell you that it was a far better country when children were taught respect for others, and were taught that we were one nation under God, whomever that God may be to you.
America has always taken in the tired, the weary and the poor. Those that sought a better life. There can be no separation of church and state if we truly believe that we are a nation of people who want to share a common goal.
This is just my opinion and I am sure that not every one will agree with my feelings on the matter. But I sincerely believe that this country is in deep trouble. Just in my lifetime alone, I have seen the rise in crime, hatred, and a complete disregard for the life of others and you cannot convince me that this coruption did not come about because of the freedoms we have allowed to take place with regard to the separation of church and state. There is no longer a safe haven, there is no longer a respect for another human's life, there is no longer any regard for the constitution and Bill of Rights other than to turn it into a personal agenda.
With each passing year, another freedom is taken away, because someone has chosen to take it upon themselves to interpret the laws and religions of this country to meet their own self serving need. If we want to save the country-then join in to work together for the good of the country and it's citizens.
