Prostitution is one of the oldest known professions in human history, dating back to the time of the Sumerians. Many other civilizations have also, for various reasons, allowed prostitution, such as the Romans, the Japanese, and the Venetians. Despite it's immorality, it has continued to exist, perhaps filling a void for a "necessary evil".
Times have changed, but people have not. Many still feel the need for their "entertainment", without realizing that prostitution is not a victimless crime, far from it. The women who participate can suffer physical and emotional trauma, and the "shelf life" of a prostitute can sometimes last only two years. Prostitution is the ruining of healthy bodies and minds for the enjoyment of other people.
Another concern is the spread of disease. Syphilis, Herpes, HPV, and countless others can be spread much faster with prostitutes. Some of these diseases have no known cure. Condoms have been proved ineffective against their spread. Some are harmless, true, but others can cause severe infections if they reach different parts of the body. (e.g. Herpes, HPV)
Prostitution spreads two types of disease: mental, and physical. Both should be stopped.
