Cassie stood in the kitchen, not knowing what to do. She kept thinking about the clothes on her bed. "Damnit, Becca, why did you have to bring that up?" She said out loud to no one in particular. She found herself making her way to her bedroom in order to clean the clothes off. She looked down and saw Wiley looking at her with a curious expression. "It's not for that. It needs to be done anyway." Somehow she sounded as if she was trying to convince herself of that more than anyone else. She kept thinking back to earlier in the evening when she and Jake had both decided it would be too soon. Next thing she knew, there was a knock on the door.
After quieting the dogs down, she opened the door to find a couple of green eyes staring at her.
She stepped aside to let him in, "Thanks for coming."
He turned to her, "Why am I here, Cassie?" He knew he sounded harsh, but he was angry. Not with her, of course. With that moron ex of hers for ruining their evening and he was fully expecting to hear a Dear John speech and be sent away.
She winced at his words, knowing how upset he must be. She leaned back against the front door. "I'm sorry about earlier Jake."
Jake had the good sense to feel bad for making her think he was angry at her. "I'm not upset with you Cassie. You have no reason to apologize. You can't control the actions of others."
"I sent him away."
"Why?"
"As soon as I saw him, I prayed he was a ghost, apparition of some kind."
He stepped closer, "Is that right?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"There's someone else I'd rather spend my time with."
He took another step, closing the distance between them. "Who might that be?"
"You."
He planted a hand on the counter next to the door and the other on the other side of her, effectively pinning her in. "I was hoping you'd say that."
"Why?"
"Because I'd rather spend my time with you too." His gazed slipped down her face to her lips.
"I guess we don't have a problem then."
He looked in her eyes, seeing the desire which hopefully matched his own. "You make me crazy."
"Do I?"
"You know you do."
"Maybe."
"I want you. Ever since I first saw you."
"I want you too."
"I guess we have a problem then."
"How's that?"
"We just met but I don't think I can wait." He was breathing heavier than he'd like, and his voice was deeper than normal.
"I don't think I can either." Her breathing was already getting heavier, her need for his touch becoming unbearable.
"What are you saying, Cassie?"
"That I cleaned off my bed hoping you'd stay."
He put a hand on the side her face, his thumb
