Self-Esteem is very important in early childhood. When a child has a low self-esteem early on in life it will carry into his/her adult life. A low self esteem will affect every aspect of their life including their relationships, the ability to be successful and prosperous in different ventures, and the ability to become a well rounded individual.

So much of your life is lived underachieving when the self esteem is low. It can lead to depression, anger, bitterness and a general lack of interest in life itself. You begin thinking others are better than you and you have recurring thoughts of never ever being able to become successful and achieving your life's dream.

That's why it is so important to nurture a positive self image within our youth today otherwise we and society at large will pay the bill. A person with a low self esteem is more likely not to graduate from high school because of a feeling of detachment from their peers. A low self esteem can lead to a lonely sad life.

When one discovers this is the case it takes a lot of focus and attention to counter act this behavior. Sometimes a life time of effort goes into establishing a positive self image within a person.
