Massage Movements and their effects: Effleurage
What is Massage?
If anyone has ever had a massage they know the great feeling of relaxation and peace you may get from that soothing experience. If you don't know, I suggest you get one as soon as you can after work or on your day off; they're worth every penny.
I never knew what effleurage was until I started researching this and my research states that it is " a french word meaning 'to touch lightly'". It is generally the relaxing first sensation that you feel in the beginning and at the end of the massage, that unlike percussion or pestrissage (which aims to move and manipulate tissue at a deeper level). The masseuse may start with a medium such as oil or cream to warm the muscles and skin and relax the person.
Some benefits of effleurage are circulation, regeneration and eliminating toxins.
