Here are a few questions that I wished I had asked.
FOR THE HALLS OF RESIDENCE
How far is the nearest Supermarket?
Where do you do your laundry and how much does it cost?
Do the staff respect your privacy?
Has you mail ever gone missing?
What time of night does it get quiet?
Are there any health and safety issues that are ignored?
Be suspicious if you are not shown the cooking facilities or bathrooms.
AT THE INTERVIEW:
Will you still be running these modules?
How many students dropped out last year?
About how many hours of instruction can I expect in a week?
How often to you ask students to leave?
Some of these questions may seem a bit aggressive but on the other hand you don't want to arrive at University to find that you get only 2 hours instruction a week from a research student, in a module that is not of your choosing. Then to go back to your Halls and find that the staff keep inventing rules that are trivial, petty and intrusive. Talk to students either at the campus or on-line.
Good luck with your searches and studying
