The case against separation of church and state

by Mary Bidou

Created on: August 05, 2007

The separation of church and state was the worse thing to happen in America since the Pledge of Allegiance was written. We have, since then pledged allegiance to a nation where or freedoms were supposed to be held in the highest regard and the purposes of liberties were what the allegiance was to defend. We made the pledge to stand as one under God, and if we were to fall we would fall as one. Never has there been a nation which claimed to uphold these standards for it's citizens, and never has there been a government more opposed to it's purposes that the republican nation we serve under George W. Bush.

The separation of church and state was not so much a service to the freedom of religion, as the forefront of the cause was presented. As we who have belief are aware, the removal of church from the power of the state serves the purposes of Satan, in taking glory away from God. By use of the deity God, let it be known that it speaks of this authors own faith, but by no means do I discredit the power of any supernatural deity form any religion which teaches morality to its people. By no means are we giving more credibility to one faith over another, but if the country was founded on the purposes of God, it speaks of the things God teaches us, not to the name we give our deity.
The separation of church and state stood to prevent the teachings of religious belief in public schools. In so doing, we have made it illegal to teach children the basis of understanding for morality. Why not instead unite religions under the government, allow children to interject their own deity, into a nation which was founded on Christian ideals, yet embraces the power of religion, and accepts the foundations of faith. Were we to include, rather than exclude, the differences in faith, we may learn that faith goes beyond radical opinions and supersedes the title of Deities.
There is truth is all things, and it is said that the Bible is the word of God and all of it's contents are good for teaching. But even the most devout Christian has read passages that, at times do not make perfect sense, and may be difficult for correlation in their own lives in the present. Taking the time to open up to the beliefs of others, and the purposes and foundations which have formed their system of beliefs, we might just find that they are an extension of our own past fundamental beliefs, and thereby opening the door to possibility that maybe there is more to know, more to learn, and more to which we can safely expose ourselves.
