This article seems to apply to so many things...
Two years ago I began working at a new age store. I worked my way up to general manager. I carried the store through some truly unstable times, such as one owner's husband being deployed, her son being arrested, her other son coming home after being in jail for a year and her having a hysterectomy, after which her gynocologyst forgot to inform her she needed to be on hormonal supplements.
The other owner, meanwhile, was busy being clinicaly delusional and was relocating her money, then forgetting she did such a thing and started an ID theft investigation. She eventually checked herself into a psychiatric ward, and then into rehab.
I forgot to mention they both drink. Alot.
Things were fine for awhile after the hormones were adjusted and rehab completed.
Then a week ago I was fired, for supposedly not caring about the store that I had devoted the last two years of my life to (because I had the audacity to enroll in massage therapy school) and for alledgedly 'setting up' one of the owners to make her doubt her sanity again (because a weekly deposit from June appeared in a cubby hole that they had cleaned on Monday, and that deposit wasn't there then, by Goddess!)
Ah, I forgot to mention, they are drinking heavily again.
So, in the past month, things went from utterly fine to a bowl full of irrational craziness in which I was framed.
BUT...here's the good news.
After only a week I've already had one interview. It didn't pan out, but fear not.
On a fluke, I looked up massage therapy spas here in town, and thought to email my resume to a few of them, just on the chance that they may need a receptionist sometime soon.
Two hours after sending my resume to the only spa that had an email address handy, I received a phone call.
It turns out, they are looking for a front desk person. I have an interview on Monday.
Now, a friend of mine said that she believed that if the jobs I looked into weren't fruitful, that it's because I was being reserved for a different posistion and a different place.
I hope that my synchronicity proves that to be true.
I loved my job, I loved my bosses. Truth be told, I still do, under the devistation and confusion that they would think I would do something so awful.
I wish them the best, and that they will find the help they need, because for two years, they were family, and I grew and learned in my time there.
Maybe it's just most simply put that my time there was done.
My faith along with the love and support of friends and family have shown me that this is a transition. It's an end, yes, but more importantly a beginning.
I found some comfort and amusement in the situation. Friends, family, creative thinking and a lot of universal faith go a long way.
I think I'm on my way to bigger, better things, and am finally on the path that will make me truly happy in a field I've coveted for years.
How's that for opportunities?
