It is interesting how this question is worded. Though the act of sharing chores in the home shows mutual trust and respect for each other which, in turn, can strengthen the bond between two people who fall in love, I don't believe it is the only key to a successful marriage. One of my chores is taking out the trash on Sunday night. But, if I didn't like taking out the trash, my wife would be willing to switch a chore with me. Maybe, the real question here should be "Is sharing and compromise the keys to successful marriages?"
Marriage means something different for all of us. Still, at its very core, it is a friendship. Friends share good fortune. Friends also often carry responsibility for each other. All this being said about friends, why wouldn't married couples (perhaps the greatest friendship) share things. Sharing is about giving. But, more importantly, it is about communication. Remember I said my wife would be more than willing to take out the trash? Well, she is also more than willing to remind me about my chore if she so chooses. Sharing chores can be "A" key to a successful marriage, only if they are shared with the same giving, honesty, concern, and respect that every other thing in a marriage is afforded.
Perhaps, coming across this debate was good for me today. You see, today is Sunday.
