Humanism is in fact a religion. Religion is Anthropologically defined as a world view a person or group of people hold to explain things that are not knowable with the senses.
The word "religion" is not synonymous Christianity, Judaism, Islam or any of the extant believers today or in the past.
Atheism' is a religion. It is a belief system non-theist use to explain life and its' vagaries.
Humanism is not a new kid on the block. Men have long believed they could explain everything with science and that "mankind" was the creator of its destiny. There is no need for a God or Buddha,Mohamed,Zoroaster or the gods of animism.
Humanism simply says man control's his on destiny and is capable of knowing its existence through reason and science.
The term religion is nebulous and it requires a person to define what they mean by the term in the context of any discussion.
