What are the top 10 foods that you like?

I have had the extremely good fortune of traveling over a lot of the world thanks to Uncle Sam and the United States Navy. I have always enjoyed trying the food of the countries that I was in at the time. It was very interesting and usually a very good and tasty experience. I loved the German Sausages and mustards. I love the Southern Delicacy, Boiled Peanuts and my Southern Belle of Forty years still makes the best ones I have ever had.

I like food period but here is a list of ten of my favorites in no particular order.

1. A GOOD hamburger or cheeseburger. Somebody told me one time that the average American teenagers idea of a balance meal is a hamburger in each hand. Well now I have teenage grandchildren but I still think that a good hamburger is hard to beat. I am not talking about the chain fast food type hamburgers. It needs to be grilled over a good hickory or mesquite wood fire. You need to have a good thick slice of sweet red onion and a slice of vine-ripened fresh tomato that is bigger than the bun. I like mine topped with Gorgonzola or blue cheese crumbles. Serve this on a lightly toasted onion roll or good multi-grain bun with just a touch of mayonnaise. A GOOD hamburger is still hard to beat.

2. A GOOD Steak A really good tender juicy beef steak is a hard one to beat too. Being raised in the Beef State of Nebraska I was raised on good corn-fed beef. If a steak is not overcooked, most all of the cuts are good. My favorite of all the cuts is a good 16 oz bone-in rib eye. Something about the meat next to the bone is always the best. Take a good well marbled rib eye and grill it till is just a little pink in the middle and top it with Gorgonzola or blue cheese crumbles and some grilled onions and mushrooms. Give me just a bit of Heinz 57 sauce and some fresh coarsely ground black pepper and I am a happy camper.

3. Oysters, Shrimp, and Fresh Seafood Most any of the sea foods I like with the exception of calamari. I love oysters raw or cooked, most anyway. We lived in Florida for twenty years just a few miles from Apalachicola Bay where the best most succulent oysters in the world are harvested. Shrimp is hard to ruin. I like them fried, boiled, blackened, however you can make them. Crab legs or crab cakes or deviled crab. Love it. I love some good deep fried red snapper with some good onion hush puppies. There is a Chinese Restaurant here in Denver that was just voted one of the top ten Chinese restaurants in the United States and they have some Sesame
