Fifteen years after dropping out of community college, I realized the error in making that decision. Despite my best intentions to provide for my new family, I failed to see the value of the investment I was walking away from. I look back to consider why I made the choice I made, and I just cannot fathom that I must of believed that quitting school was a good decision. Three years following my returning (and completing) community college courses, I've a renewed sense of self and direction. Not only am I looking at my last year of university ahead, but also three years of law school. Despite the reality that a career in law can earn at least four times my current income, my ability and desire to have and express opinions alone justify higher education. Employers, at least those worthy of working for, desire thinkers. My educational goals and the fact that I had a coherant five-year plan alone landed my current position in sales at double my previous income. On top of that, my new employer has committed to working around my educational needs. I would not have the opportunity to realize my potential had it not been for my committment to self-investment. I'm not yet where I want to be, but I've a profession in sales with which I can develope hard communication and negotiation skills necessary for a successful law career.
