Planting Dahlias
Earth, warm under my spade
brings forth worms
vying for squatter rights
pushing them aside
I drop
visions of summer
dinner plate dahlias
raising their faces
and snubbing last years
Christmas tree, now compost

my secret delight in
worn fingertips
of gloves meant to keep
dirt from under my nails, in
cool,
Digging in the soil.
Dropping the virginal seeds to bloom.
Flowers reaping what was sowed.
THERAPY
My garden is a place of peace,
Where worries stop, and troubles cease.
My roses, lilies, marigolds,
They do exactly
"Love Is Like A Garden"...
When the seed of love is
planted, it will not grow without
nourishment; it cannot become
a strong
