Poetry: Family

"Mother"

She's the one you look up to,
The one you adore.
She's the one that you cry to,
The one you lean toward.

She's there in the morning,
She's there in the night,
She's there in the good times.
She's there in the strife.

As a child she's your savior;
She doctors you well.
As a youth she's your nightmare;
She nags you like hell.

Though she's tough and demanding,
She's soft at the heart.
Though you both don't agree
She's right for the most part.

From dawn to dusk,
From birth to death,
Your mother's the one
Who breathed your first breath.

So, no matter what happens,
No matter what goes,
She's always your mother.
Yes, she's one of those.

You may not say it often.
You may not say it at all.
But on this Mother's Day,
Say you love her when you call.
