A person who is spiritual searches to find the meaning and purpose of this life. Think for a second... A defiant two-year-old has spirit... A wild mustang has spirit... And, a team with spirit forges its own path to victory.
If you are on your search for meaning, here are a few points that any veteran can tell you:
1.Your longing to find your meaning is not in vain. Keep walking, and don't get tired of the journey. You may not find your answer now, but it will become clear closer to death. If you are lucky, you'll find it when you are young (ie in your 20s, 30s, 40s, of 50s), so keep hoping that one day you will have the privilege to say, "I have lived for a time and a moment like this."
2.The journey itself is a key part of your purpose and spirituality. A deep sense of comfort and relief is found when you realize that life cannot stand still and everything is more fluid than the naked eye can see. Along your way, you may not be able to distinguish the forest from the trees, but every step and every view is shaping you.
3.Finally, your search will inevitable bring you to a fork in the road. To continue your search, you will have to make a decision among a few options. You can take the road that is wide and well-worn, or you can follow the narrow path. If you are truly adventuresome (and potentially foolish), you can step off the path all together and try to make it on your own. Going off by yourself means you could be walking the rest of the way by yourself. It may get lonely, so make sure to pack a deck of cards for some solitaire after your pee break.
Whether walking the wide, the narrow, or the path you blazed yourself, there is on shame in packing a map. In fact, for safety purposes, it's also advisable to take a friend with you. Feel free to trek it by yourself, search and wander these woods as much as you need to satisfy and settle your anxious soul. You don't need a map or a fellow traveler; but, if you get tired of walking in circles, you are welcome to join me and my friends on our journey. We have a map, plenty of fresh water, and the enough people to play Spades. We might follow our map religiously, but God knows we're spiritual, too.
