We have all seen the specials on Discovery Health Channel: The man who seems to be stuck in a woman's body; Women who have always been more attracted to other women and feel out of place in their own skin. There are tons of cases out there where people feel that they have been born the "wrong gender". What a mix up of all mix-ups; imagine feeling like you were supposed to be someone else.

I think that this proves at the most basic level, that there is much more to gender identity than simply the way that you are raised. Given the chance, these people would do anything to be the person on the outside that they feel they are on the inside. But what happened? Doctors don't really know. Perhaps there was an excess of estrogen in the womb during sexual development of a male, or vice-versa, but the biology of the situation seems to dictate the discrepancies in the gender identity of these people and their actual gender.

Another argument for nature over nurture is fact that children raised by gay or lesbian parents do not necessarily turn out to be gay or lesbian. Simply because children are raised in an environment that displays roles different from traditional ones, does not mean that they are therefore destined to play these same roles.
