Product reviews: Flonase

This is my second season using Flonase a very effective nasal allergy
prescription spray. In doing research on this great product I learned that it was helpful with asthma. It is an anti-inflammatory nasal spray it helps reduce the inflammation that leads to nasal symptoms. The active ingredient is luticasone propionate (pronounced: flu-tik'-uh-zone pro'-pee-o-nate).That must be why I use my inhaler less often.

Since the age of twelve I've been battling hay fever and other allergies that have robbed me of enjoying three of the four seasons, spring, summer, and fall have to offer. For yeas I've dealt with constant sneezing, difficult breathing and a persistent irritated cough. A couple of times my eyes itched so bad that in rubbing them I caused a great irritation making them painful and hard to close.

Since using this wonderful nose spray that some have called a miracle drug, one would never know I had allergies. In the spring it's trees and then it's the grass, and in the fall it's the golden rod for me. Other triggers that may bother many people would be pollen, dust mites, and animal dander.

My doctor never explained to me what the spray actually does and I found it interesting to read about. It works by shrinking the nasal passages and lessening the amount or even the effect of histamine that is produced by the body. I can remember not being able to sleep because of the phlegm that had built up in my throat. It has been a blessing not to have it wake me up at night or keep me awake.

This wonderful spray has reduced all my symptoms to the point that I have no symptoms at all unless I go a night or two without using it. The first sign is the need to blow my nose. The second sign is the need to sneeze. You can be sure that I use the spray before going to bed that night.

What I really like about it is that it is not habit forming. There's no drowsiness to contend with. Although I take it at night before bed so it wouldn't matter. I'm fifty eight years old now and symptom free for the first time in all of my adult life.

Since last year I been able to sit outside, walk through the fields of goldenrod, enjoy my seasons with no symptoms. It truly is a miracle drug.

I found these wonderful tips on Drugs.com

While using Flonase, tell your doctor if you have severe or ongoing nose bleed, vision problems, sores in the nose that won't heal, or if you have fever, chills, body aches, or flu symptoms. Everything I guess has some side effects so be sure to look out for these. Thankfully I have not been bothered by any of them.

Steroid medicines can affect growth in children. Talk with your doctor if you think your child is not growing at a normal rate while using Flonase.
