You don't need much to create a beautiful piece of work that will be the focus of many conversations around your kitchen table. They can be created at an affordable price and they make wonderful gifts for relatives.
For those who have a calendar program for computers you can easily print up the months you need, and to add style and an antique look to the calendar pages just change the fonts, add backgrounds, clip art, and within certain dates add anniversaries, birthdays, and any historical events that were a part of your family history.
For a calendar that will last I recommend printing it on Card stock paper in a soft ivory or peach color. You will want your printer to be set on 'best' so that the ink doesn't leave lines as it is printing.
Pictures; these can be obtained from family, and by using a scanner can be copied to your computer and later to a floppy,CD-R, or memory stick.
I recommend editing some pictures to rid them of scratches or discoloring before adding them to the calendar.
To add the pictures to your calendar open up a word document or if you have a picture program open up a picture and create a 8x11 sized picture and print. Before you print, however, make sure that your calendar pages are set up in the printer correctly so that the photo when printed comes out on the correct side so that when you flip open the pages, the picture and corresponding month are correctly set.
Binding your calendar can be done at places like Office Depot, Office Max, or Staples for a reasonable price, usually about two dollars for plain binding or if you want a colorful wire, about two seventy-five.
These calendars are sure to last awhile and bring back memories for parents, grandparents, or even siblings of days long gone by.
So grab some old photos and some paper and get busy creating something that will bring joy and plenty of discussion.
