The job interview is generally nerve racking enough, but then you have to wait for a response! Here are the DO's and DON'T's to set you up with a positive mind frame after the interview.
DO think about the interview. Write down the strengths and weaknesses of the interview. Learn from this for your future applications.
DO NOT obsess about the interview. You have already been constructive in writing down your strengths and weaknesses.
DO go for a drink with friends. Talk about other things.
DON'T BE OVERCONFIDENT. You may feel the job is yours, but is it? There are still things that you can do to help you get this job.
DO call the interviewer the next day and thank him for seeing you. Alternatively send a thank you letter. This may give you a second chance to demonstrate that you are the person for the job... Who knows!
DO keep applying for different positions. It will give you more options and take your mind off the interview that has just taken place.
DO NOT rely on getting this job. Broaden your options. Keep going for job interviews, even while you are waiting for a response for this post.
DO contact the interviewer if you have not heard anything after a few days. Politely ask them if they have come to a decision yet.
DONT be disheartened if the job is given to someone else. Perhaps a better job is waiting for you!
