service rep that I don't have a cell phone. She said, "Should I try to call you with my cellphone?" The rep heard her and suggested "Why don't we route all your calls to your friends cellphone?" You've got to be kidding me. My friend's cell phone? My friend who doesn't live with me, managing my messages for me like a secretary for five days? What an idiot. At this point, I asked to speak with his supervisor.
After being on hold for eleven minutes (there's a counter on my phone), I finally get a supervisor who suggests that they route my calls to my cellphone. I reiterate that I do not have one (at this point, I'm very irate) and I tell the supervisor that I want my DHL device tomorrow. He calls the DHL shipper and we three-way. She was very nice, but explained the package was en route and could not be re-routed. She suggested the supervisor overnight a package to me and she could have the other package sent back. He says he's not authorized to do this. I ask him who is, and he evades the question several times before he tells me he can transfer me to another center. I agree and I'm put on hold with the DHL shipper for another fifteen minutes while they connect me to another center. The DHL shipper was quite jovial, commiserating with me every step of the way without being unprofessional. Quite nice.
I finally get the supervisor's supervisor on the phone and she tells me, guess what? Yep, "We'd be happy to forward your calls to your cellphone!" I was so angry by this point that all I could say was "no." After ten minutes of jabbering, I was able to get her to understand the screw-up on Vonage's part and she said, "Well, the only thing you can do is buy a device from a retailer and then call us to hook it up." So, I ended up paying more to get the Vonage device than I had paid in shipping, she refused to reimburse me for anything but the shipping despite my many protests, and it took two hours to get everything situated.
Caveat Emptor! Buyers Beware. They may sound like a good deal, but their customer service leaves MUCH To be desired. I hope my experience with them will help others to make a better decision regarding their own phone service providers. Good luck.
