Writing a thank-you letter after a job interview doesn't have to be a complicated task. Taking five to ten minutes after the interview is all it takes to write a lively but simple thank-you note to your potential future employer. Here are a few tips for writing great thank-you letters after a job interview:
1. Touch on what you learned in the interview: Interviewers want to make sure that you were listening during the interview (not just talking), so bring up a few kep points that you learned about the company during the interview.
2. Discuss why you think that you are the best candidate for the job: Remember that the interviewers may be talking to many candidates. In order to make sure that the employer remembers you, touch upon why you specifically think that you are best suited candidate for the job in your thank-you letter.
3. Consider having personalized notecards made for yourself: Just as you would handwrite thank-you notes for friends and family, consider having personalized notecards made just for you so that you can write handwritten thank-you notes to potential employers.
4. Thank the interviewer for their time: The person interviewing you for the position is most likely very busy. Make sure to thank them for taking time out of their busy schedule to talk with you.
Thank-you notes are not the time to discuss potential start dates or salary arrangements unless those items were specifically discussed in the interview. Otherwise, writing a thank-you note after a job interview will certainly set you apart from the other candidates and may help you to win your dream job.
