It is quite common to be invited for a number of interviews before a job offer can be made. In the financial industry, for example, it is highly unlikely to be hired without going through several rounds of interviews. Managers often request second interviews to gain more information on a candidate or to introduce him or her to other members of the team. This usually takes place in the form of one-to-one interviews with peers or superiors to find out how the candidate would fit in the existing team.
Generally, this is a good sign - you left a good first impression - but there may be other issues which need discussing, the job spec or position offered may have changed in the meantime, there could be a particular concern which the interviewer would hope to address in a second interview. If you feel that the interviewer has a particular concern it is advisable to address this in the interview process. This way you stay in control and show off your interpersonal and problem-solving skills. It is important to be confident but not over-confident and to show genuine interest and enthusiasm. Prepare, do your research and play into your strengths.
