People are supposed to avoid or get out of the way of emergency vehicles. So too, if a driver is struck by a police car because there was nowhere to go in order to get out of the way, well, whoever caused the accident should be to blame and pay for the resulting damage caused to the other person. Then again, many innocent people were injured or killed because they didn't see the apporach of an emergency vehicle for one reason or another.

Believe me, if you find yourself in the middle of a criminal and a speeding poliice car, you are in big trouble. You must slow down and get out out of the way and/or get off the road as soon as you can. Clearly, the fleeing criminals don't care who is injured or killed as they race at a high rate of speed away from the police. Then again, most of those high speed chases are not a safe solution to catching a thief or some such kind of criminal. It only makes good sense that some States no longer allow the police to take part in a high speed chase because of all of the damage caused to people and property in the past.

Sooner or later the criminal will run out of fuel and/or stop and try to escape by other means. As long as law enforcement is able to track the progress of such a criminal there is no need to put innocent people in danger. In so doing it is also possible that the criminal will lead the police to his or her hide-out where other criminals can be found.

The truth of the matter is the fact that there are better ways to catch criminals and those ways should be deployed by each and every member of law enforcement within the United States of America. Speeding police vehicles cause tens of thousands of dollars of damage to property each and every day. In so doing they also kill or injure many innocert people for no good reason. The technology is available in which to put an end to those high speed chases.

The police are supposed to protect us and our property, not destroy it. People make mistakes, and that's why there are insurance companies. Then again, there are careless drivers and, if they cause accidents, they should have to pay for all of the damage they cause to private and public property. In that regard, the police are no less guilty of committing a criminal act while in the process of chasing some other criminal.

I believe that everyone should obey the traffic laws, and when people exceed the speed limit, more often than not, they will hit something, simply because the other driver can't get out of the way fast enough. It is quite clear to me that the police need a better way in which to catch criminals, and they better find that way before they kill more innocent people.
