Travel destinations: Kenya

i have always wanted to go for holiday in Africa specifically Kenya.Last July i went to the Masai Mara as i wanted to the wildebeest migration. Well it delayed but i was there for one week and i therefore got the opportunity. We left the camp where we were staying very early in the morning to be near the Mara river on good time, most of the tourists who were in the Mara around that time had the same interest as well and therefore there was going to be a huge group of tourists and the guides. I enjoyed every bit of the safari and especially the game drives, i got to see the big cats at close range, the Elephants would charge towards out car and the buffalo would look close at me, i took photos and i would never want to miss this big event -the migration!

After an hour's drive we got to the banks of the Mara River, it is said that this river the wildebeests have to cross, they are usually in thousands, so many of them that you look at them and the eyes tire, and you want to look away, perhaps to the mountains. The migration takes many days but it takes a few hours to cross the river which was my main interest. So finally we saw the wildebeests emerge from a hill on the other side of where we had parked, we waited and they came all following the leading ones, straight into the river, there were so many, some broke their legs in there(perhaps i was not very keen and maybe they had broken them even before they went into the waters) so many of them in all sizes and ages, some looked as young as a few days since birth. The River is not so wide but the animals were many, so many that i have never seen such flocks all my life! Even after they finished crossing the river they still took so long to disappear from our sights, after crossing they reduced the speed and went very relaxed, they were feeding and moving slowly slowly but in the river they were sort of running. It is amazing to watch this.

There are other activities i have enjoyed like watching the sun go down, with a glass of wine under a big tree.

I hope that i will manage to go in the next season.
