An introduction to video blogging

So you want to be a video blogger? You're not alone. Video blogging has quickly become the rage, and web-sites like YouTube.com and Ifilm.com are leading the video assault on our senses.

In fact, I too have joined the fold, having begun video blogging a few months ago to mixed results. By mixed results, I mean that not every video blog can be expected to receive thousands of hits right away, as some subjects may not rank as well as others in the search engines.

Although I have also posted music videos of various performances by myself and my former band-mates, my focus is on politics and current events. I have only posted about a half a dozen such blogs, but these clips have increased my visibility tremendously, as viewers often visit my other blogs and websites, contributing to a modest, but consistent revenue steam.

I take my blogging seriously, and accordingly, I take my video blogging just as seriously, right down to the lighting chart taped to the side of my desk when filming. My assistant and I have even gone so far as to create animated digital graphics and theme music, with the hopes of attracting viewers and establishing some degree of credibility. I am not interested in competing with the major media outlets. Rather, I am primarily interested in furthering my message, whatever hat message may be.

Should you be considering a video blog of your own, you may wish to peruse a few of the thousands currently racking up hits on the various sites. In fact, I would be honored if you were to take a moment and check out a few of my videos. I know Helium prefers we not use the site for self promotion, so I am not including the link, but my videos can easily be found under my nom de plume, B. Thomas Cooper.

Ultimately, the choice to v-blog or not to v-blog is yours and yours alone. Whatever works for you, I can only encourage you to embrace. A video blog
adds a personal quality the written word cannot. Hey, but who am I to talk?
