live. To his surprise, he made a full recovery from a lung cancer that had already spread metastasis everywhere in his body.
"Following his dramatic encounter with an act of forgiveness towards his former colleague, he spent considerable time alone, crying in his car, finding himself incapable of driving, and completely overcome with an emotional catharsis that he had never permitted himself before. Again and again he repeated the phrase, 'I'm free. I'm free. I'm free.' And so he was," the Cancer Report tells us.
The book also brings scientific facts to the reader, citing the works of Candace Pert, who "provided scientific evidence that a biochemical basis for awareness and consciousness exists, that body and mind are, indeed, one, and that our emotions and feelings are the bridge that links the two."
The authors are careful in making clear that, while their purpose it to help people understand why illness may appear, they want to empower patients so that they can assume responsibility for creating health, without generating a sense of guilt.
Among the recommendations found in the book, the most important seem to be achieving awareness about our bodies, our emotions and the kind of thoughts that dwell in our mind. Awareness is fundamental to prevent illness and restore health, and there are a number of ways to gain awareness: psychotherapy, meditation, hypnotherapy, and spirituality, among them. An increased awareness will lead us to healthier lifestyles, including stress reduction strategies, physical activity, good nutrition and avoiding toxic substances.
