Pros and cons of the South Beach diet

AMERICA WAS NEVER SO FAT.

Eat well does not mean to starve. It means to eat less, and with quality. Recent studies show that the key for a long life, resides in your plate. In Okinawa, Japan, the average age is 78 years for men and 86 for women. According to one study made in 1976 in this Japanese city, a typical Okinawa meal vegetables, tofu, soup and a small portion of fish or meat is less caloric than a small hamburger.

Our bad habits on the table drive us to commit some serious mistakes when we decided to lose some weight. THAT'S THE POINT! We just want to lose weight. We don't want to change our BAD HABITS. So, as much as we try, we will go back to the same point, and most of the times, we look even heavier.

One of the most recent "promises" on the diet business, is a so called "South Beach Diet". It was developed by Dr. Arthur Agatston, at the begging of the 2000's. It was a less aggressive version of the Atkins diet, and it was responsible for the new low-carb diet wave.

The good news is that you do lose some weight. The bad news is that, besides the unbalancing nutritional problem, the diet program doesn't take in consideration the risks of eating too much fat and proteins.

Again, in a long run, all these miraculous diets can really put your health in risk.

The best diet is the one where you can eat everything with no exaggeration. We should be able to eat enough to supply our daily needs. It's simple!

The best diet is the one that helps you keep your weight for a long time, and not just a seasonal statement.
