According to Jim is what you'd expect in a standard sitcom, but it is definitely the standard sitcom at it's very best. It debuted on ABC in October 2001 and has enjoyed fairly steady ratings and a solid place in ABC's stable of comedies ever since.

And why wouldn't it? This show has a great combination of characters, actors and hilarious writing. It's all about life according to Jim (played by Jim Belushi), the stereotypical guy's guy, family man who's really a boy at heart. His beautiful wife, Cheryl (played by Courtney Thorne-Smith) is a great comedic match for Jim. These opposites play off of each other so well. She often plays "straight man" to his antics, but the times he brings out her "inner child" are hilarious too.

Adding to the great comedic mix are Cheryl's siblings. Her brother, Andy (played by Larry Joe Campbell), is Jim's partner in his construction business. And while Jim often doesn't "get" Andy (he's a little dorky and desperate for a girlfriend), they have an understanding of sorts and a friendship.

Cheryl's sister, Dana (Kimberly Williams-Paisley), has an at-odds relationship with Jim that is so funny and often steals the show. They love to pick on each other and they do it quite well.

Put all of these great characters together and you find that the best part about this show is its ensemble cast, including the cute and very talented kids. They all have incredible chemistry and great skill in conveying an underlying affection for each other. It makes Jim and company a great and down-to-earth TV family. I can't wait to watch them again next season!
