Being an "out" lesbian, my thoughts on being gay run the gambit from euphoric recollections that splash an excited smile across my face or even make me laugh out loud for no apparent reason, to physical jolts from memories of sheer, unadulterated pain and fear. It just depends on the day, and under what circumstances I'm having thoughts about my own personal gayness, I guess. I've had some wonderful lesbian moments, to be sure. I know that because I've also had some horrific ones on which to base my comparison. At the end of the day, they're my moments, and I own them. Over the years, I've learned to more skillfully pick and choose what thoughts I allow myself to entertain and, more importantly, when and for how long to entertain them. My "middle-of-the-road" thoughts of being happy and at peace with myself, my life, and my life-partner, are the ones I rely on the most these days, just to keep me grounded.
