How to show appreciation at work

There is nothing better than being recognized for doing a good job, especially at work. It also feels pretty good to thank somebody who has done a good job. So we know that showing appreciation is a good idea, but how do you go about doing that at work? The following are just a few ideas on how to do just that.

1. Bring them some coffee.
If your coworker doesn't like coffee you can also bring them tea, cola, chocolate milk whatever they like! Find out ahead of time how they like their coffee and surprise him or her with a beverage first thing in the morning. Imagine the smile on his or her face, when you present them with a nice drink, full of caffeine, that will help kick their energy in the morning! This small little gesture can brighten the day of almost anyone.

2. Bring them some chocolate.
Everybody likes chocolate! Pick out some nice, fancy truffles that are wrapped in a pretty box. There are many chocolate stores who will do the wrapping for you, so no need to sweat about how to decorate the box. However, it is a good idea to do some quiet research ahead of time to make sure that your coworker is not on a diet or they are not diabetic. If you find out that they can't have chocolate, bring in a fruit basket instead.

3. Bring them flowers.
What do you do if your coworker has gone above and beyond the call of duty? Coffee and chocolate may not be a big enough thank-you. Why not try bringing your coworker a nice bunch of flowers? This is an excellent way to thank them profusely! Just stay away from roses, as roses are generally reserved for the people we love. Mini sunflowers, Gerber daisies, tulips, daffodils, carnations or mums are all good choices. Once again, with a little investigation ahead of time, you may even find out your coworker's favorite kind of flowers!

4. Send a "Thank-You" email to everyone in the office!
Well, maybe not everyone, but certainly 'cc' those people who would want to know that you are thankful for your coworker's help. Everyone
likes to be acknowledged for a job well done, and it's even better if you are complimented in front of your boss, your boss's boss, and the CEO! Remember to make your email short and sweet, as many of the higher-ups don't have oodles of time to spend reading long emails.

By thanking your coworker for a job well done, you will not only feel good for doing so, and make them feel good about themselves, but you
will also encourage similar behavior in the future. And remember, what goes around, comes around. Because if you have thanked someone today,
you can be rest assured a similar thank-you is in your future.
