If you believe the Bible to be true, there can be no doubt that heaven is a real place. Please reference the following scripture passages:

Jesus "looked up to heaven," signifying a specific direction and location (up).
(see Matthew 14:19) "And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves."

Jesus prayed to the Father "who is in heaven," identifying a specific place where God dwells. (see Matthew 6:9) "Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name."

Jesus said mansions exist in heaven, which he is preparing.
(see John 14:2) "In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you."

Jesus said you could possess treasure in heaven. (see Matthew 19:21) "Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

Jesus "saw heaven open," signifying a place that could be seen. (see Mark 1:10) "As Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove."

An angel "came down from heaven," signifying an actual place where spiritual beings (angels) reside. (see Matthew 28:2) "There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it."

The Holy Spirit descended from heaven in the form of a dove, identifying a place where the Spirit of God dwells. (see Luke 3:21-22) "as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove."

Jesus was "taken up into heaven," signifying a destination as he ascended into the sky. (see Mark 16:19) "After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God."

Physical food was given from heaven, implying it is a tangible place. (See John 6:31) "Our forefathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written: 'He gave them bread from heaven to eat.'"

A light shown from heaven, signifying an actual place from which light can originate.
(see Acts 9:3) "As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him."

A wind came from heaven and filled the room.
(see Acts 2:2) "Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting."

Our (the christian's) residency is in heaven, signifying we will dwell in a specified locale. (see Philippians 3:20) "But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there."

Creatures exist in heaven. (see Revelation 5:13) "Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing: "To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!"

And finally, Jesus, after his bodily resurrection, asked Thomas to feel and confirm the physical nature (flesh and bone) of his resurrected body. He then ascended into heaven, proving that physical, tangible, material matter does in fact inhabit this place called heaven. (see John 20:27) "Then He said to Thomas, "Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing."

The question is not whether heaven is a real place, but rather do you believe the Bible to be true. That is the subject for another article and for another time.
