Poetry: Jesus

Jesus Was Loving Me

Jesus came and died for me,
Rent the veil from the temple wall,
That stood between my Father and I,
For I could not hear His call.
And I know that it was agony,
As the soldiers drove the nail.
But the greatest pain was when He saw,
Me lost forever in hell.
Now I tremble inside when I stop to think
That I should have been on that cross.
But He came from heaven to take my place,
That I not be counted a loss.
Oh, where have you ever heard of such love?
What man ever paid such a sum,
To save the soul of such as I
For the Kingdom that's yet to come?
That I might live in a mansion,
On a street that is paved with gold,
In a city of lasting peace and love
Never to die or grow old.
My mind just cannot comprehend
That someone could love me so.
That such a price could be paid for me,
By someone I did not know.
For even when I was lost in the world,
Too blinded by sin to see,
That I had been bought and paid for,
Jesus was loving me
