Sweet treats for 100 calories or less

You have more convenient choices than ever before if you are looking for treats for 100 calorie or less. The convenience will cost you more, but my trip to grocery store this morning proved that consumers don't want to count calories. They want them counted for them. They are a little pricey but you can get cookies, crackers, chips, sugar free chocolate, candy and much more packaged so you can grab one and go. It isn't a bad idea in the busy world we all live in now.

If you have a little more time and don't mind some preparation you can save yourself some money. One of the ladies I work with has her M&M's counted out into 25 and in a small container. 25 M&M's are 100 calories and you can even check it out on their web site. In fact, here is a list of things we found in our work place this afternoon. I do work with many women and we do get an incentive for weight loss and maintanence so we're fairly stocked.

*banana

*ocean spray fruit juice bar

*15 jelly bellies

*3 quacker butter popcorn rice cakes the large size

*orange

*cherries (20)

*fat free pudding

*apple sauce

*fruit yogert

*sugar free jello

*good humor fudgesicle

*carrots in little sandwich bags

*fat free cheese in little sandwich bags

We found all those things ready and marked on the 100 caloire shelf. We have two shelves and a box in the freezer set asside for 100 calorie items. Since we are doing this on a large scale we have not purchased many of the prepackaged items.

We started this way. Each member of the 100 Calorie Club got a little calorie counter book and we highlighted foods we thought would be good snack items for work. Why did everyone need a book? We wanted variety. We created a list from all the highlights. Three people a week bring the treats. We make sure there is enough for everyone to have one a day. More have stacked up for obvoius reasons. (You couldn't pay me to eat raisins, but they were a favorite on some onel else's list.) I am proud to say tht after six months they removed the vending machines from our floor.

Why not make a little 100 calorie shelf or box at home. Then you don't have to do a whole lot of thinking when you really "want" that snack. You have plenty of choices and they are ready for the taking. If there are only good choices it certainly minimizes the chance of less healthy options.

It is also important to remember that a healthy choice becomes unhealthy when there is too much of it. Remember to set a limit on the number of snacks and be faithful to that limit.
