Christine Campbell is just your average everyday middle aged divorced mother, who's husband replaced her with a new younger Christine. The New Adventures of Old Christine works, because it touches on subjects we can all relate to. Although the situations are sometimes over the top as with any sitcom, the core of the show is relatable on many levels.

Christine struggles in vane to fit in with the perfect, married stay at home moms at her sons exclusive private school. She attempts to stay on good terms with her ex who is trying to relive his youth and dating the new younger Christine. Christine is also a working single mother, trying to balance being the owner of a trendy women gym.

The ensemble cast on this show is what really makes this show work. The dynamic between Christine and her ex husband Richard is priceless and relatable for many. Then you have her goofy eccentric live in brother, who provides much comic relief as her sons " manny ". You also have the extra injection of comedy with Wanda Sykes playing Barb in her typical wise cracking hilarious manor.

This show is light, funny, relatable and a little zany. Julie Louis Dreyfus rightfully, but unexpectedly won the Emmy for her hilarious role. The show which was originally slated as a doomed mid season replacement shows a lot of promise.
