Political correctness (PC) is a damnable curse that must be eradicated! The irony is that it was conceive by people of good will who honestly believed that euphemisms would soften the pain and prejudice of some words that were simply too blunt. The trouble is PC has sanitized our language to the point that it lacks the vigor and honesty of the language it replaces.

A few examples prove the point:

1. "undocumented worker" - this is just a soft, non offensive way to avoid hurting the feelings of illegal aliens. The PC term eliminates the true law breaking sense of the phrase.

2. "collateral damage" - hey folks, this phrase completely changes the real meaning of the KILLING of innocent bystanders.

2. "ethnic cleansing" - this is probably the most obscene PC term. It almost makes the activity sound sanitary and justified. But the real meaning of the word is "mass murder based on ethnic origins; genocide; massacre of people because of an ethnic category they belong to." The REAL words are none too pleasant. "Ethnic cleansing" is a term that Hitler would have enjoyed as he ordered the atrocities of his regime.

The true danger of PC is that it cunningly influences people to accept concepts that are in reality very savage and cruel. If we want to maintain our freedom of speech we must be alert to the new monster of PC, because it is robbing our language of the true meaning of things.
