The Significance of Warming Up And Cooling Down
Some people tend to dismiss warming-up and cooling down when it comes to their workout routine because they view it as a waste of time. However, this waste of time serves a very important purpose. The main idea of warming up before a workout is not only to get the body physically prepared for the workout routine, but it also raises the body temperature, so the body can reach its full workout potential. A warm up can also heighten the physical performance while exercising. The increase in the bodily temperature can intensify the contraction of muscles, thus letting the muscles contract more quickly and with a greater force. This feature also aids in more calories being burned during the workout as well as giving the individual a longer more effective workout.
The cool down is another significant aspect of a workout routine, which aids in flexibility. The importance of cooling down is to gradually bring the bodily temperature back down to the norm; that is the temperature of the body before the workout and the warm-up. It can be potentially dangerous at times to suddenly stop after a workout, which could lead to a hasty drop in blood pressure that could leave one dizzy or light headed even. The cool down also ensures proper blood circulation by releasing some waste from the muscles.
So, enjoy your workout and please do not think of a warm-up or cool down as a waste of time. It could prevent serious injuries and maximize the workout potential.
