Being a Christian in today's confused and sinful world is not an easy task but takes much effort and a person must work very hard to remain a Christian follower of Christ.
We live in a world where some can always claim to be a Christian, but they prove themselves a liar by their conduct. A true Christian would be a follower of Jesus Christ. They would obey God the Father as Jesus did. The love they have for others would compel the true Christian to never harm another person. That means they could not say they love their God and their neighbor and then go to was and kill. If one has sincere love for another they would not kill them.
They would obey God's law before obeying mans laws. Another words if God says we should not kill then if the leaders of a government tells us to kill, we then must obey God as ruler then man. Men in the lead (government) are placed in their positions by God and therefore we are to listen to them, unless what they tell us goes against what God wants of us.
(Romans 13:1-2) Let every soul be in subjection to the superior authorities, for there is no authority except by God; the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God. 2 Therefore he who opposes the authority has taken a stand against the arrangement of God; those who have taken a stand against it will receive judgment to themselves.
A Christian though being a follower of Christ, that is where the title "Christian" come from, must also listen to their master and king, Jesus Christ, who stated at:
(Mark 12:17) Jesus then said: "Pay back Caesar's things to Caesar, but God's things to God." And they began to marvel at him.
We must have neutrality when is comes to man's laws that go against God's laws.
Here are some questions each person can ask themselves if they want to know if they are a Christian:
1) I have True love for others? Those who I am associated with, do they also love others? Is there love genuine and honest? John 13:35. "35 By this all will know that YOU are my disciples, if YOU have love among yourselves."
2) I base all my beliefs on the Bible and not on mans laws? John 17:17 "17 Sanctify them by means of the truth; your word is truth."
2 Timothy 3:16, 17. "16 All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work."
3)Is it important to you and do you pray as Jesus did to sanctify
