Common mistakes of new cat owners

The cat is an independent creature, right? So it is best to leave my new cat alone, she will enjoy it!
WRONG! That is probably the most common error a new cat owner can do... The cat is a very loving animal, and needs attention and love from her humans. So love your cat, care for her and you will have a happy purring feline around.

Cats can take care of themselves.

Well, any cat thinks so of course, but the truth is the little cats around us are no longer the ferocious felines their ancestors were. So they need some one to take care of them, check if they have help issues and arrange a safety environment for them.

Cats wash themselves on regular daily basis, so need for the owner to do that.
It is true that cats like to clean themselves, but sometimes it is not enough. Plus, if you wash your cat from time to time, you help removing the dead hair, and your cat will fill much better. Also, it is good in allergy relief (if you have in your household persons suffering from cat allergies, you have to wash your cat once a week).

Cats are wild animals, they must enjoy freedom. It is good for them to have access to exterior.
Well, cars, dogs, diseases, unfriendly humans are only some of the dangers that threaten a cat life in the exterior of your safety home. No one say that you shouldn't allow your cat to go outside, in a protected garden, but living a house cat to venture on the roads = signing to her sure death.

Cats are wild animals, it's not for us to decide if they mate or not. Cats need to live the joys of being mothers.
Wrong again. With all the unwanted kittens on the street, the only thing necessarily are another baby cats. If your cat does not have show value, it is best for her to spay/neuters him/her. Plus, doing so you reduce your cats the risk of cancer (a growing concern for cats that eat industrial food) and her aggressive nature. And believe me, for a cat, the joys of motherhood equals paining birth and a possible premature death.
