I watched about 10 minutes of The Secret and realized they weren't telling me what I already didn't know. If you think positive, you'll be positive and attract positive people.
I had had a history of negative thinking. Nothing ever went my way, or so it seemed. One day in 2002 I woke up sick and tired of feeling down all the time. I bought a book of daily motivational thoughts and started reading one thought a day. I then started reading them to a coworker who wanted positive messages. Before too long, I had a group of people who wanted to hear these messsages, so I started emailing them. As my group grew, my attitude towards life changed. Thinking positively was hard work when you weren't used to it but constantly being exposed to it helped change my thought patterns.
Within a couple of years, I had a large email list of people I sent thoughts to everyday. Feeling positive helped me make positive changes in my life. Things I thought were okay before were things I found distasteful in my new outlook. I lost weight, I ended a job of 15 yrs that was depressing and stressful and I moved out West to the mountains that soothed my soul.
I did this without watching or even hearing about The Secret! I found the movie a bit much. I think that it takes work, hard work and determination to get what you want. Simply wishing for money to fall into your lap won't happen. Jack Stanfield, the author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul book series already HAD a viable moneymaker sitting there. He said he wished for a certain amount of money to "just appear" but the reality is.. he had a way of making that happen.
So bottom line, you CAN have what you want IF you have the right positive attitude, the determination and the means to make it happen.
The Secret isn't really a secret. Its just common sense applied properly.
