I admit it I am an overeater, or I used to be. Due to this fact I remained overweight for a better part of 10 years. Over the last 2 years I have lost over 100 pounds, here are the four things I found worked for me.
1. Water I drink 8 10 glasses of water a day. I try to drink a big glass of water before every meal, and every time I feel hungry.
2. Eat small meals I eat 6-8 small meals a day instead of 3 big meals. I balance all my meals with a healthy lean protein and a healthy carbohydrate. I used a BMI calculator to determine what calorie intake I should be on based on my age, height, gender, and activity level. Divided my calorie level by 6 or 8 and planned each of my small meals to contain that many calories.
3. Have a treat day I chose Sunday as my treat day. This is my day of the week where I can treat myself to that special something. At the beginning of my lifestyle change I longed for this day of the week. By the end of 6 weeks I no longer craved my treat day as much. But it still nice to know that the option is there. I found having a day of the week set aside for an indulgence helped me get through the rest of the week.
4. Walk Everyone can walk. Everyone says to exercise, which for a person who is overweight is not always easy. But everyone can walk. Start slow, walk around the block and slowly build up and walk further each week. This will jump start your metabolism. When you are hungry and you know deep down inside you shouldn't be, grab a water bottle and go for a walk.
