fuel. Saving just half a gallon of fuel a week adds up to 24 gallons a year. Even at only about $2,50 a gallon you'll easily have 60 dollars more towards reducing debts !
Shopping is the big culprit when it comes to raking up personal debt. Today we spend more time in shops and malls than ever before. Browsing is certainly an innocent pastime, but rarely does a browsing trip come along without some sort of purchase. Of course, shopping is fun but without a basic plan (a simple shopping list), you can easy stroll off course, especially if you are taking the kids along. Start with the need-to-have' items on your list and save the indulgencies for the end. Always ask yourself if what you see and like is actually needed and if so, if the item is just currently trendy or whether you do intend of using it in a few weeks time. Just think of your average PC today: CD-burner, MP-3 player, web-cam, 3D-video-cards and plenty more. It nice to have all of the features, but will you actually use them? And how about those extended warranties'? All equipment has a one-year guarantee any way; so unless you are buying a low-end piece, you would not expect a total breakdown after 13 months, so way pay thirty of more dollars? Think twice on what you need, enjoy what you choose and keep some pocket money for a candlelight dinner with a loved one, for once not paid by credit card!

i) The 2004 Worldwatch Institute annual report on the "State of the World" examined in great detail how we consume, why we consume, and what impact our consumption choices have on the planet and our fellow human beings. With chapters on food, water, energy, the politics of consumption, and redefining the good life, the authors of the Worldwatch report ask whether a less-consumptive society is possible: they concluded that it is essential.
